From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 7, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to 91µÎµÎ students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

Islamic Studies Library Advisory Committee

The role of the Islamic Studies Library Advisory Committee is to advise the library on policy matters relating to collections, services and specific user needs.

Terms of reference

  • Review and advise on planning documents and reports as they relate to the Islamic Studies Library
  • Advise others as appropriate on library and information service developments
  • Facilitate and advise on communication between the University Community and the Library
  • The committee shall meet twice a year.

Composition of the Committee

The committee shall consist of:

  • A minimum of two professors representing the Institute of Islamic Studies, including the Chair
  • One undergraduate student representative and one graduate student representative
  • The Head Librarian of the Islamic Studies Library
  • The Trenholme Dean of Libraries, the Dean of Faculty of Arts (or delegate), the Associate Dean, User Services, and the Secretary of the Committee are ex officio members

Other faculty or library members may be asked to participate on the committee for certain periods of time as resource persons.

Appointment

  • Faculty members are appointed by the Institute of Islamic Studies
  • Student members are appointed by the World Islamic and Middle East Studies Students Association (WIMESSA) and the 91µÎµÎ Institute of Islamic Studies Student Council (MIISSC)
  • Secretary of the Committee is nominated by the Library

Duration of appointment

  • For faculty members, the term of office is two years renewable at the discretion of the Faculty
  • For students, the term of office is one year, renewable at the discretion of the World Islamic and Middle East Studies Students Association (WIMESSA) and the 91µÎµÎ Institute of Islamic Studies Student Council (MIISSC)
  • For the Secretary of  the Committee, the term of office is two years renewable at the discretion of the Library
