Fall 2024 Exceptional Add/Drop Course Change Form

This form will be available as of Monday, October 7, 2024 at 1 p.m..

Faculty of Law Students will use this form to request:
  • Add/Drop Suspended courses
  • Add Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) option on any suspended course
    • Students can remove S/U option themselves, via Minerva, until the "Withdrawal without refund" deadline, October 29, 2024

Please see the Exceptional Add/Drop Procedure linked here for all relevant information regarding the Fall 2024 Exceptional Add/Drop Period.

Student Eligibility Criteria for Approval of Course Changes

Before submitting the form, students must ensure that:

  • They only select courses for which they are eligible (i.e. undergraduate Law students cannot request registration in sections reserved for Graduate students, etc.).
  • They have the required credit load available for registration in order to have their request approved. Requests that would result in a student's going over their current credit load will be automatically refused.

Requests to add a course will be triaged based on course availability (i.e. if the first course you requested is full, we will place you in the second course requested, etc.). Requests to only remove a course will be triaged first to ensure the SAO has the most accurate list of available spots before beginning to triage requests to add and/or swap courses.

Procedure for Adding & Dropping Courses during the Exceptional Add/Drop Period

Please note that the Exceptional Add/Drop period can only be implemented manually by staff at this stage . That is, students will not be able to add or drop courses themselves on Minerva. Manually changing courses for every student at the Law Faculty is an extraordinarily time-consuming activity to we ask you to only submit changes that you are absolutely certain you want to make.

  • Students who withdraw from a course underway, via Minerva, are subject to regular Course Withdrawal deadlines:
    • After September 10, 2024: Refund, with “W” grade
    • After September 17, 2024: No refund, with “W” grade
    • After October 29, 2024: Student may no longer withdraw from the course
  • Students wishing to withdraw from a suspended course must do so through the form. Please do not do this yourself as you will get a W and be subject to normal course withdrawal deadlines re fees. The Exceptional Add/Drop period begins on October 3, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. and ends on October 9 at 11:59 p.m. It will take several days after the period ends to process Add/Drop requests as this is done manually.

From October 10, 8:30 a.m. to October 20th 11:59 p.m. will be the withdrawal with refund period. Should you wish to withdraw from a course with a W but with a refund, please fill out the Fall 2024 Exceptional Add/Drop Course Change Form during this period.
