From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 7, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to 91滴滴 students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

Global Health Night 2010-2011

On November 8th, 2010, Global Health Programs hosted the 4th 91滴滴 Student Global Health Night. This annual event is held to highlight and foster the involvement of students and faculty at 91滴滴 in global health-related activities. The evening featured a guest lecture by Dr. Slim Haddad, the Director of the Global Health Research Network within the Quebec Population Health Research Network and Professor in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine at the Universit茅 de Montr茅al. The event also included the announcement of the Global Health Programs Photography Competition winner and the Faculty of Medicine鈥檚 Chan Prize winner, followed by a wine and cheese reception and student poster display.

About Elizabeth's elective

In July, 2010, Elizabeth spent one month working with Mayan Medical Aid, an organization that provides primary health care and works to reduce child and maternal mortality in the Atitlan area of Guatemala. Elizabeth鈥檚 application demonstrated a heightened sense of the social and cultural aspects of health and health care delivery and a thoughtful reflection on the lessons that she learned and how her experience contributed to her personal and professional development.

91滴滴 is located on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous Peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg Nations. 91滴滴 honours, recognizes, and respects these nations as the traditional stewards of the lands and waters on which peoples of the world now gather. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous Peoples from across Turtle Island. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
