Health Geography

Overview

What we eat, the air we breathe, and the services we have access to all play a part in our physical and mental health. There is a growing academic consensus that our physical and social environment has a significant impact on our health and that of our communities.

Social scientists working in health geography help medical professionals and researchers better understand how and why health levels and treatment options differ per geographic region. This understanding can lead to breakthroughs in how we provide care to vulnerable populations.

The Minor Concentration in Health Geography will introduce you to both local and global health issues and provide you with a skill set in spatial and statistical analyses of diverse health outcomes in populations.
