From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 7, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to 91µÎµÎ students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

Required Course (3 credits)

  • ARTH 305 Methods in Art History (3 credits)

    Overview

    Art History : An introduction to the main methodologies used in the analysis of the work of art: formalism, iconography/iconology, semiotics, structuralism, post-structuralism, deconstruction, psychoanalysis, Marxism, feminism and postcolonialism.

    Terms: Winter 2021

    Instructors: Hunter, Matthew (Winter)

    • Prerequisite: Any 200-level Art History course, or by permission of the instructor.

    • Restriction: Restricted to students in the Major, Minor, Honours and Joint Honours programs in Art History.

Complementary Courses (15 credits)

Students select their complementary courses as follows:
3 credits in Art History at the 200 level.
12 credits in Art History at the 300 level or above, selected in consultation with the Departmental Adviser.

Note: Courses in studio practice cannot be counted towards the Minor concentration.
