From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 7, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to 91µÎµÎ students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

Overview

Asian Language & Literature : This course provides an introduction to the history, aesthetics, and social impact of manga, or Japanese comics, exploring production, distribution and reception within Japan as well as transnational fan communities, translation, and adaptation (to television, animation, and cinema).

Terms: This course is not scheduled for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Instructors: There are no professors associated with this course for the 2017-2018 academic year.

  • Prerequisites: An Introductory 200 level course in media, art, Japanese culture or equivalent.

  • Restrictions: Not open to students who have taken EAST 299 or ARTH 319.
