A Day in the Life of neuroradiologist Jesse Klostranec

For every minute a stroke is left untreated, 2 million brain cells are destroyed. That is why it is crucial for patients suffering a stroke to get treatment in the shortest delay possible.

Every 10 minutes, someone in Canada suffers a stroke. It is the third leading cause of death in Canada. Nearly 14,000 Canadians die of stroke each year, while stroke cases can come in at any minute of the day or night.

Jesse Klostranec is part of a highly specialized team providing rapid assessment, diagnostics, and treatment of stroke patients at The Neuro, one of only two tertiary stroke centres in Montreal.

“The difference in seeing how people came in with severe disability and then seeing them the next day walking around and talking like it’s never happened, it’s an amazing thing to be a part of."
